BITVAVO

I received a letter from Bitvavo on February 19th in response to my email of Tuesday, February 18, 2025:

 

Dear Hans,

 

Thank you for your message.

 

Based on your report and our investigation, we understand that you have come into contact with a so-called romance/dating scam. This is a common form of fraud in which scammers try to build trust through online dating or social media platforms to ultimately convince you to transfer money or crypto.

 

We strongly urge you to immediately break off all communication with this party.

 

If you have already transferred funds to this party, we advise you to report it to the police as soon as possible. Have all the funds you transferred from your Bitvavo account gone to this party?

As a precaution, we have blocked your outgoing crypto transactions. You can still buy and sell crypto, as well as deposit and withdraw euro funds.

Brief die ik ontving op 19 Februari van Bitvavo ontving als reactie op mijn verstuurde mail van dinsdag 18 februari 2025:

Bedankt voor je bericht.

Uit jouw melding en ons onderzoek maken wij op dat je in contact bent gekomen met een zogenaamde romance/dating scam. Dit is een veelvoorkomende vorm van fraude waarbij oplichters een vertrouwensband proberen op te bouwen via online dating- of socialmediaplatforms om je uiteindelijk te overtuigen geld of crypto over te maken.
 
Wij willen je met klem verzoeken om direct alle communicatie met deze partij te verbreken.
 
Indien je reeds tegoeden naar deze partij hebt overgemaakt, raden wij je aan om zo snel mogelijk aangifte te doen bij de politie. Zijn alle tegoeden die je vanuit jouw Bitvavo account hebt verstuurd naar deze partij gegaan?

Uit voorzorg hebben wij je uitgaande cryptotransacties geblokkeerd. Je kunt echter nog steeds crypto kopen en verkopen, evenals tegoeden in euro storten en opnemen.
